istock says, “No focal point”

February 2, 2009

So, recently I joined istock , which I hear is kind of a challenge, and have been uploading images for stock purposes.  What people don’t tell you, is that once you get in, they are very picky about the images they accept.  The most common reason for a rejected image as that when viewed at 100% there is some pixilation, but what really gets me is the “No focal point found” rejection notice.  They have a series of textures, patterns, and abstract background images within their site, not to mention categories with like names.  The question of the day is “If you have a category labeled texture or abstract background, how can you reject an image because it doesn’t have a center of focus?”  I thought it would be funny to post some of the images that istock has rejected up on my site.   This is a macro shot of some hail when the sky fell the other day. Enjoy!
